The wonderful weather lately has almost lured us into believing that spring is just around the corner. The very thought of spring coming makes you smile as you imagine warmer days and flowers. Then you remember that it is February in Calgary and the smile disappears and you shrink a few inches. So how can we beat these February blahs?
Exercise. (Many of you just groaned and shrank a few more inches.) But seriously, exercise makes people happy- you just need to be doing a form that you enjoy. Do you prefer being with a large group of people, one or two friends, or would you rather spend your exercise time on your own? Do you enjoy being outside or would you rather be sheltered from the elements? Choose something that makes you happy and just do it. When you make it a part of your daily routine (yes, daily routine) it becomes easier to do rather than being another chore you keep putting off.
Pamper yourself. Head to the spa, cook a gourmet dinner, soak in the tub with wonderful aromatherapy oils. Do something that makes you feel indulgent. It doesn’t need to be expensive- it just needs to be something that makes you feel special and taken care of.
Surround Yourself with Loved Ones. Throw a party or have some friends over for dinner just because. Let your friends and family how much you care about them and enjoy their company. Bask in the warmth of love and friendship. Now that is something to truly make you smile.
